Our first trek to India - we joined a Rotary excursion on their 'Mega Polio Campaign' trip. We were over there for 2 weeks learning about India's populations and some of their cultures while educating and administering oral Polio vaccine in old Dehli.

We took time to visit Varasani during Holi week...the color festivities where everyone dances and covers each other in colored powders was a blast. The festival at night on the Ganges was very special and the following day we took a small boat out on the Ganges where we got to see some amazing architecture from centuries past as well as witnessing several cremations - yes, the ashes are still dumped into the river.
Returning to Dehli, we met up with the rest of the team and proceded to administer Polio vaccine in Old Dehli, distribute flyers promoting the next round of vaccines, visit a local clinic/hospital and spend time at a local school - the students from the school had helped us with flyer distribution and then proceded to give us a tour of their school - amazing!
Nest we drove to Agra where we spent several days visiting the Taj Majal and related sites in the area - it is more impressive than the pictures we have all seen.
Following Agra, we took the train to Ranthambore to spend a couple of days in the National Park - where we saw plenty of wildlife but unfortunately, no Bengal Tigers.
We then drove to Jaipur - the Pink City - which was a totally new experience. The Pink City has some amazing architecture spanning many centuries but the most interesting part of the stay was a visit to a 'Limb Factory'. This clinic produces jointed arms and legs for amputees on an impressive scale. Registering in the morning, you could have a custom jointed limb attached by the end of the day... followed by months of physical and psychological therapy - which only costs the client mere pennies!!! We could learn much from these people....
